Why Whiskers Retreat?

At Whiskers Retreat, I understand that cats need a special kind of care. That’s why I am trained specifically in feline handling, nursing care, and grooming, giving your cat the gentle expertise they deserve.

I create a calm, stress-free environment using soothing techniques that help reduce anxiety, making every visit as comfortable as possible.

My cat grooming services are always tailored to your cat’s unique needs, whether it’s their coat type, age, or temperament. For your convenience, I offer flexible options—you can bring your cat to me for a drop-off appointment, or enjoy the ease of our mobile grooming service that comes right to your door.

In June 2026 my brand-new state-of-the-art van was converted into a fully equipped mobile cat salon  to make things even easier.

About Emma - Emma cat groomer holding a fluffy grey cat.

Your cat’s health and safety is one of my top priorities. From skin and coat care to mat removal, nail trimming, and spotting early signs of health issues, I’m here to keep your cat looking and feeling their best, while guiding you to your vet if anything needs extra attention. I use only premium, cat-safe products and tools to ensure the highest quality care.

With over nine years of hands-on experience, Ive worked with cats of all breeds, including seniors, nervous cats, and those with medical needs.

Every decision I make is centred around your cat’s comfort and well-being, and I love using toys and treats to make grooming sessions as fear-free and positive as possible.

Sorry, My Grooming Calendar Is Cat-at-Capacity!

Unfortunately, I need to close my books at the moment to new clients as I now have a 4+ week waiting list.
You can still message, and I can direct you to other great local groomers.

Too Many Whiskers, Not Enough Hours!
Thank you for understanding, Emma

Benefits of Cat Grooming

And yes, cats truly need our help!

Most cats take great pride in their appearance, often spending nearly half their waking hours grooming themselves to look and feel their best. While cats are naturally independent and like to care for themselves, a little extra help with grooming can make a big difference in their pampering routine.

Regular grooming not only keeps your cat looking beautiful, but it also supports their overall health and comfort. A well-maintained coat means less shedding, fewer tangles, less or no mats and a happier, more relaxed cat. What’s not to love? A well groomed cat, is a happy cat!

Beyond the beauty benefits, grooming is also a wonderful way to strengthen the bond you share with your cat. It gives you a chance to spend quality time together while also keeping an eye on their wellbeing, allowing you to notice early signs of health concerns—such as changes in skin, fur texture concerns, lumps, or bumps.

Here at Whiskers Retreat, I can guide and support you to make your cat look and feel their absolute best.

But what are the main health and hygiene benefits?

Reduces Hairballs
Regular combing and brushing removes excess loose fur, helping to prevent your cat from swallowing too much fur during self-grooming. This reduces the risk of hairballs and the digestive issues they can cause.

Promotes Healthy Skin and Coat
Grooming stimulates natural oil production, keeping your cat’s coat soft, shiny, and healthy. It also helps clear away dust, dander, and dirt for a fresher, fluffier and cleaner look.

Prevents Matting & Pelting
For medium- to long-haired cats, routine brushing is essential to stop tangles and mats from forming. Left untreated, mats can cause pain and discomfort, skin irritation, and even infection. Short-haired cats can also experience matting, particularly when they become elderly and are unable to groom themselves as they did before.

Early Health Detection
Grooming is the perfect chance to check your cat’s overall condition. I may spot lumps, bumps, parasites, skin changes, or injuries early—before they become more serious.

Ear and Eye Care
Cleaning away discharge during grooming helps maintain healthy ears and eyes, lowering the risk of irritation and infection.
